R.I.P. Dolla

Atlanta rapper Dolla was killed during a high-profile shooting at the Beverley Center in Beverley Hills, California today. Dolla, born Roderick Anthony Burton II, hailed from East Atlanta and Los Angeles. He was signed to Akon’s Konvict Muzik imprint.

The rapper was killed around 3:00 PM after a fight between a group of individuals broke out. Witnesses reported that a woman was seen firing a handgun. Another source said a male suspect was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport as he attempted to board a flight. Dolla worked as a model for P.Diddy's clothing line Sean John before signing with Akon and had gained a buzz via his track "Who The F*#k Is That?" which featured T-Pain and Tay Dizm. The rapper also collaberated with T.I. and Lil' Wayne on various tracks and was working on his solo album titled A Dolla & A Dream.

This album was a classic that was infused into my DNA back in the day. I had a tape with this on one side and The Hard Boys - A-Town Hard Heads on the other side. Songs like "You Gets Nothing" and "Juvenile Shit" I know by heart and I had not heard them since '99 at the earliest. JT Money went on to record into the late 90's but I wonder what happened to Debonair Drugs (AKA The Devil's Dad). Atlanta and Miami had alot of parallels in Hip-Hop history as far as music and artists. One of the original gangsta groups out the south that I used to jam that never get the credit I think they deserve. I got the zshare file below and check out the video to "Dance All Nite".
